We moved this weekend and whew am I glad that is over. We have boxes everywhere, we cant pull our cars into the garage yet and we wander around aimlessly looking for things. This house is much different than our last home and much larger so it will take some getting used to. Here are good things about this new home.

  • Im not stepping on toys in the family room anymore, they are all in the finished basement.
  • No more fighting over the tv, there is one for the kids and one for us.
  • We switched cable companies and went with AT&T and we love it. We get the Boomerang channel now and Im watching the Smurfs (with Preston of course). I love the smurfs and have missed watching them for 30+ years. I cant wait till the Jetsons come on (for Prestons sake of course).
  • Nice neighborhood with golf course so everyone keeps up their houses and takes care of their yards.
  • Trinitys room is everything I would want in a room if I could go back and be a kid. Its pink, lime green and purple and I secretly wish that was my room.
  • I can hide from the kids and not be found for several minutes
  • We have 4 more rooms than our last home.
  • Our kids love it, we love it and Im too sore to keep typing so this is the end.

EVER

As if hearing mommy, mommy, mommy a thousand times a day wasn't enough to make me want to put cotton balls in my ears, Preston's new cute but annoying habit is now to put the word EVER on the end of everything he says.

Me-Do you want pancakes for breakfast this morning.
Preston-No I don't want pancakes for breakfast EVER.

later that day...

Me-We need to change your diaper
Preston-I don't want my diaper changed EVER
Me-We have to or it will stink up the house
Preston-No my diaper doesn't stink up the house EVER
Me-I said lets go change your diaper
Preston-I said no EVER

YEAH...Finally

Friday is the Big CLOSING DAY for us. After weeks of not knowing if our house was sold due to counter offers back and forth and what nots and weeks of not knowing if we got the house we wanted we are finally closing on both homes this Friday. We are staying in the same town and moving a few miles down the road to what we call the better half. Better schools, better people, better subdivision, better house. Now all I have to do is pack this house up...ughhh!!! You never know how much shit you have till you start packing one house to move to another. Here are pics of our new home.

Easter

We went to my in laws for Easter and spent a few days there. It was nice to get away and not think about all of the house issues we are dealing with. Did some shopping with my mother in law, we ate a wonderful meal and since we had cold weather and a bit of snow we hunted for Easter eggs inside. The kids didn't mind one bit. We had to have my stepdaughter back at her moms by noon on Easter day so we came back to the house, packed a few more boxes for the move and crashed. I miss being young and looking forward to the Easter Bunny coming. We used to get a surprise outside our door when we were young from the bunny and then we would go to my grandparents for Easter egg hunts....aah the good old days. I remember it always being nice enough to have on short sleeves but we seem to always deal with cold weather, snow or both here during Easter. Next year I say we head to the beach for Easter and bury the eggs in the sand for the kids.

Address

I bought a new address book because my other one was falling to pieces and as I was moving over names, address, and phone numbers I came across the U's. Usually the U's wouldn't bother me so much but the only name in my letter U is for my friend Jennifer McCaleb Unland who passed away a year and a half ago from a car wreck along with her daughter. As I came across her name I couldn't bare not putting her name and address in my new address book. Her parents told me that Jennifer's husband sold the home they used to live in so no one that I know even lives at that address. I cant not do something so instead her name will go into my new address book under the U as usual and her address will just say Heaven with her phone number as prayer. Her address this time is permanent and what a wonderful place it must be for her and her daughter. Heaven is like prime real estate with location, location. location and the bonus is you have no more worries, no more tears. I smile as I write this with tears running down my face because I know that she would laugh at what I just said. You are missed!

Mmm Snow Cream

After all of this snow there is only one thing left to do....let them eat snow cream. Growing up we would make this as a special treat when it snowed. I'm not sure where the recipe or concept came from but my husband is from the north and had never heard of it.

Gather a large bowl of fresh snow..(dont get any yellow kind)
Pour a small amount of milk in with the snow and stir until creamy
Add a little sugar to sweeten
Add any color of food color for fun
Add imitation flavoring such as banana, coconut, or peppermint or any other flavoring you like
Eat right away and enjoy..the kids will love it.

Its Saturday afternoon around 2pm and this is what we are looking at now in regards to snow...and its still coming down.

Brrr 2

Update, as of Saturday morning we have almost 8 inches of snow that they had originally reported, we are now expecting 12 and well on our way to meet that mark. There are no cars on the road because most of them are closed, all business's are closed and the town is hunkered down for the remainder of the weekend. Our ruler that you can see barely sticking out in the first picture is buried and this is the view from our garage floor. Still blizzard conditions and still snowing.

Brrrr

This past Monday Preston and I were at the park and enjoying much needed 65 degree weather. Are we doing that this weekend???? I wish. This weekend we are expecting 8 inches of snow, we are under a blizzard warning and under a level 2 snow emergency. Your not alone if you have never heard of these types of emergency, I too had never heard of these snow emergency levels until moving to the north. It breaks down to a hell of a lot of snow, zero visibility, gusty cold ass winds and don't even bother getting on the roads unless its an absolute must. Boy, Monday was such a tease.

Level One means roads are hazardous with blowing and drifting snow, roads are icy and drivers are warned to be cautious.
Level Two means roads are hazardous, only those who feel it is necessary to drive should do so, and drivers are encouraged to call their employers to verify that they need to report to work.
Level Three means all roadways are closed to non-emergency personnel. No one should be out during these conditions unless it is absolutely necessary. Those traveling on the roadways may subject themselves to arrest.

Sneaky

Prestons interpretation of what he thought I said...

Preston was eating pudding and said he was finished after only eating half of it. I told him to put his pudding cup in the trash and spoon in the sink. Later in the day as I was getting ready to do a load of laundry I reached to pull the lid down on the washer and found the half eaten cup of pudding along with the spoon in the washer with the dirty clothes. We have also found peelings from an orange along with a bowl in the dryer. I guess he figures that all things come out clean in the laundry room therefore everything dirty should go there.
There is nothing better than enjoying a nice hot shower......that is until my 2 year old runs through the house naked, gets in the shower and claims that he is going to pee on me. My strategy of throwing a fruit loop in the toilet and telling him to aim at it to help him get potty trained has backfired on me. Apparently Im the new fruit loop.

Changes

Wow, a weekend can bring with it a lot of changes.
First change is we are now selling our house to other buyers. The first buyer couldn't get the paperwork done in time and was dragging his feet so another offer came in and we are going with that. That means our new closing date is the end of March.

Second change is that after 2 weeks of nonstop snow we have sunshine this morning and are supposed to be in the 60's. We haven't had this type of temperature forever. I promised Preston that we would go to the park today once the day warmed up a bit.

P.S- We put an offer on a house that I really like and we are waiting to hear back on it. Keep your fingers crossed for us.
